Greetings from the Wild West

What's up… to all of my friends out there? It's hard to believe but I am sitting in Las Vegas, looking at performing our last show of the year with Jimmy Buffett at the MGM Grand tomorrow night. It's been a great year that has gone by like lightning. From Texas to the Midwest, the Northeast, across the pond to Paris, and now on the left coast, we have covered a lot of territory with a good batch of songs and great people to travel with I might say. Thanks to all of you who welcomed us along the way in whatever garb or group we are in at the time.

Meeting of The Minds

The Peter Mayer Group will be coming back again to Key West for this year's Meeting of the Minds- Havana Day Dreamin'! If you haven't registered yet or have a hankering to come, it's right around the corner and this year you can register onsite.  Get all the info at: http://phip.com/MOTM.asp . Key West alone is a great destination spot to get you running on Island time. Among my favorite spots to see…Ft. Zachary Taylor, The Key West Cemetery, Sunset Key from Mallory Square. Then the incredible food: BO's Fish Wagon, Blue Heaven, Salute and CafĂ© Sole. You will see bars and lots of bars, Louie's Backyard, The Smokin' Tuna (where Scott Kirby will be performing each afternoon) and the flagship Margaritaville, The Hog's Breath Saloon and the Green Parrot Bar. Then you get an incredible line up of performers that have been gathered together by PHIP for this years event. They include: Sunny Jim, John Frinzi, Tropical Soul, John Patti, Marshall Chapman, Will Kimbrough, The Coral Reefer Band, Mac McAnally, Robert Greenidge and Mike Utley do a Club Trini Set …I've left out more than I've mentioned, but there'll be a lot of music happening. We play Friday night from 9:45-11:15 at the Casa Marina Big Stage. Joining me onstage this time are Roger Guth, Jim Mayer, R. Scott Bryan on percussion and vocals, Chris Walters on Keyboards, Maggie Estes White on Violin, and Brendan Mayer on guitars and vocals. We've spiced up the setlist with some different songs this time along with some of the favorites that we play and we'll be debuting a new song as well, "Land Called Summer." Brendan Mayer's new EP now available!

"I'm proud to announce Brendan's EP is finally out and available! It's been a good year touring together and so gratifying now to see this music out on the streets. Thanks to all of you who supported this project along the way!"  Peter Mayer

Brendan's new EP will be available for sale in Key West, during the Peter Mayer Group's performance.

Our special thanks to Kei Hirata, who is listening to Brendan's "Getaway Car" EP in Japan! This is a recent facebook post from Kei:

The other day I downloaded this EP through iTunes. I do love his music, so I ordered physical disc at Mailboat Records and today it arrived at my home.

What a beautiful music, lyrics & artwork !

Don't miss it.

Come by the Smokin' Tuna in Key West on Tuesday night right before we kick off Meeting of the Minds 2014!! Brent Taylor who is the brother of Coral Reefer Greg "Fingers" Taylor will be selling shirts and CDs for the Fingers Taylor Trust. Brent will also be in the MOTM Mini Mart so come on by and see him as we open the Mini Mart on Thursday morning!

Hugo Duarte Benefit at the Smokin' Tuna Saloon, October 30!

As many of you know, our friend Hugo Duarte has been battling an illness, and treatments lately have prevented him from performing. Being sick is bad enough, but the added stress of medical bills and keeping the lights on when you can't work is a nightmare. So I hope those of you in the Keys will join Scott Kirby and Sunny Jim as they host a benefit for Hugo at the The Smokin' Tuna Saloon on October 30th, at 7:00 pm.  There will be lots of special musical guests on hand and you'll have the opportunity to contribute to a great night for Hugo.
