The Parrot Head Club of the Northern Tropics in Maine is happy to announce their 'Stockings for Solders' Campaign 2012

This campaign is aimed at giving our active-duty service members serving overseas a reminder of home during the time of year when they need comfort the most. When they cannot be with their families during the holiday's, the stockings help improve soldiers' morale, handwritten notes and letters support them as they are volunteering to protect our nation.

Club members are collecting requested items and putting them in Stockings adorned with holiday spirit and ornaments, along with handwritten notes to show service men and women they are appreciated and in our thoughts. Crafty members are making Stockings, others (like myself) purchasing Stockings to adorn and stuff! Many who cannot make the Stockings for Soldiers 'workshop' in November will send items and most importantly funds for the postage to send the packages to the soldiers!

Some quotes from: http://www.anysoldier.com/WhereToSend/  - This is the site the club is using to send packages, this season!

"We are a small attachment that lives w/ a local village. We don't have access to a PX. We would be very thankful for anything you can do. God Bless!!!"

"I have a some soldiers in my unit that don't have close family or relatives to send them goodies from the states. I would like for some things to be send to them to cheer them up, while being away from home. snacks, letters, magazine and books."

"We are having a rough time out here and mail call is the one time when you'll see a smile on every ones faces. These days are starting to go by a little slower, as it is getting close to winter time, which really makes me miss my family and especially during the holidays. Thanks to every one so so much. Take care and God Bless."

"We appreciate every little thing that comes to us and we are so proud to have fellow Americans stand behind us throughout all of these years."

"things here remain ever changing, exciting, intriguing and yes, even fun at times. But there is nothing we wish more than to get back home to our families. Until then, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Know that we keep you in ours as well. Thanks again for being there for us. It truly means more than you can imagine!"
