MelaGrass beats up Tiki on the Creeki......

             MelaGrass

Tiki on the Creeki is located in Palm Bay Florida just east of 95. Hosts Vern and Rachel Densler opened up the yard for MelaGrass to bring us a twist of beats and sounds to some original and cover songs. Vern's smoker smells and Rachel's bright smile are the first thing to greet ya as you enter the gates to Tiki on the Creeki. The family, food and yes a popcorn maker set you off to an afternoon of yard hangin'. The yard is inviting and has its own tiki bar surrounded by surf board tables. I found my spot in the yard under an umbrella with a connected table.

What is MelaGrass ? Well it is Trop Rocks very own Melanie Howe (Percussionist)with Knoxville pal Mike Snodgrass. Melanie met Mike and decided they needed to share their twist on music with some of her fair feathered friends in Florida. We are so glad we had the chance to hear the two bring what Mike calls "Acoustical Soul" with Melanie beats.

Melanie Howe aka Djembabe Melanie has performed with two of my favorite guys John Friday and John Hanney down in Key West during MOTM. She puts out some great sounds on her bongos and drum set up. You can be sure if Melanie is on percussion's the venue is sure to be a hit or should I said in the words of Emeril "Bam Bam". Another two favs Jimi Pappas and John Patti have also shared their stage with Melanie's talent. Melanie sings a great harmony with Mike and the two are planning to put out their own cd.

Mike Snodgrass  has a smooth listening voice with a large range from Micheal Jackson to Dave Matthews to add to his vocal variety. His voice can carry you from the soul chart to pop chart hits like one of his favorite bands "Boys to Men". Mike tends to lean a lot towards writing Love songs with a learning passion to them. Mike has quiet the mouth on him playing harmonica, mouth trumpet, singing and all while playing guitar. When he says "I play acoustic soul" he means it as well as sings it out. We enjoyed the 70's journey to current range of songs that he and Melanie put the beat twist in.
We are looking forward to these two putting out a "MelaGrass" cd of their own in 2015. If you get the chance to see these two perform a new beat to some old songs and originals they perform-- Go See Them.....

Special Thanks to Tiki on the Creeki for hosting a MelaGrass afternoon....cheers xo
